Casuals U15s match away to Southwell

Casuals U15s were going into the final group match of the cup which was away at Southwell and we were determined to get the win. Despite the weather conditions being horrible, we managed to put on a great performance. We instantly applied the pressure from the first kickoff and managed to truck the ball up with the forwards to get the first try from Caiden. Southwell came back fighting and were awarded a penalty try not long after. Despite a few missed opportunities, Casuals were overall dominating possession in the first half and we got near their try line again and got it out into the backs where Matthew scored. Southwell equalised just before half time making it neck and neck at the end of the first half.
In the second half the conditions had gotten even more miserable but we kept fighting through it. We started putting on lots of pressure again and made and the forwards were getting up the pitch. Essa made a powerful run and made it all the way over the try line putting us ahead again but then Southwell countered and scored another 2 tries. Time was running out and then out of nowhere the backs did an outstanding passing play with Callum on the receiving end and finishing it off with a try. Then after an incredible conversion kick from Tommy, nailing it from all the way out wide, the score was tied 24-24. It had reached the last play of the game and it was still tied. It honestly could’ve gone either way at that point with both teams turning over possession multiple times. Unfortunately, Southwell got awarded with a scrum near our 5 metre line and eventually managed to turn it into a try and win 29-24. Everyone on the team gave it their best effort and didn’t have anything left in the tank. We deserved a win with the way we played but unfortunately it got away from us at the very end.
