Nottingham Casuals U9s were bursting with players today and was great to see so many eager faces.
Casuals started slowly. Some early knock-ons and dropped passes turned over possession to Southwell, who took advantage to run through for early tries, but Casuals kept going and trying. Together, they took a deep breath and didn't let their heads drop. As the sun burst through, the players warmed up, passing improved and soon grew into the game. Passing and quick offloads were slick as they grew with the confidence that they sustained for the rest of day. One thing that is never lacking is the effort that everybody puts in.
Some stand out Casual's individual performances and a team effort of helping each other in the tackle started to control Southwell's attack; leaving only acts of individual brilliance as the way for Southwell to score. To prevent these tries, Casuals will be looking to improve their line speed and closing space.
Casuals impressed themselves upon the games by running forward, quickly offloading and then going again; pushing through tackles to gain territory or score a try. Some wonderful team tries were scored today; created by support and teamwork.
Player of the week for great teamwork supporting his teammates with tackles and completing his own tackles was Freddie.
