Ilkeston gave us a warm welcome on what was a cold, sunny morning. Casuals warmed up with the focus today being line speed and keeping a straight defensive line. Today was a test of all the hard work done in training,
Casuals 2nd VII won the toss and made a great start. Two quick passes created space for a speedy run down the wing for the first try. At the restart, Casuals lined up in unison; creating a formidable barrier between the Ilkeston players and the Casual's try line. This continued throughout the games as Ilkeston were made to work hard to get forward. Going forward, Casuals were electric; accurate passing and quick offloads creating space and darting runs into space had Ilkeston chasing shadows.
Casuals 1st VII were outstanding today. Tackling and defensive line were excellent and they pressured Ilkeston into repeated turnovers. Attack was much improved with some great team tries; Freddie in particular, made some really well timed passes. Highlight of the day was William's try saving tackle a la Mick "The Munch" Skinner's 1991 beauty. William also got Player of the Week.
