The Casuals Vets side returned for the first time in at least 12 years!
Yes the result did not quite go our way, but it was not due to a lack of effort. A sterling performance with some of the Casuals side rolling back more years than some of the Bridgford side had been alive!
Casuals scored either side of half time with tries from Rex Walker and Barry Harding, with both scores built on sustained tight pressure from the experienced Casuals pack. A penalty try completed the Casuals scoring, though unfortunately lapses in the defense allowed Bridgford to score just slightly more.
Regardless of the final score, it was fine first run out, with the pace of the game rarely dropping below rapid (or it felt like that anyway). Pretty sure they'll be a few aching bones in the morning.
The next run out is 8th Dec, a memorial game at Keyworth for Keyworth member Derek Gee (Friday night, 7.45pm). Plenty to build on, and be good to get a few more Casuals both young and old out to support (or play if you're old!).
And if you were interested the average age of the Casuals XV was...46!!!
