Nottingham Casuals RFC originated from the ranks of the Old Paviours RFC. Due to a domestic upheaval in 1922 when various members of the Old Paviours committee could not reach an agreement, a group broke away from the parent club and formed a new club, Nottingham Casuals RFC.

For the first two years of their existence, Casuals played their home games at Whitemoor Lane, Old Basford, but in 1924 moved to the University Park where they played for many years.

Mr Noel E Syson was the club's first secretary and did much of the ground work until his death in 1935. Mr Stirt R Piggen, who had been assisting the secretary was immediately elected to the post, remaining in role for 21 years, until he resigned in 1956, in order take over presidency of the club from his father Frank Piggen.

The club had a trying time after the war, and had it not been for the unwavering support of the Piggen family, the club would not have been able to continue. However things steadily improved and records show that in the 1950-1951 season, the club boasted a playing records played 30, Won 18, Lost 9, Drawn.

Their Headquarters were at the Cross Keys pub in Nottingham city centre's Lace Market.
