It is with a heavy heart that we share the tragic news that Isaac Lucas died suddenly on Wednesday evening.
Isaac was an active and committed member of our now Colts squad throughout the junior section. We all had a soft spot for Isaac: the players, the coaches and staff and the parents. He had the heart of a lion. He quietly went about doing a fabulous job at full back taking down lads twice as big as him with textbook tackles. He was an absolute terrier of a player and we'd often see him hanging onto the ankles of a marauding tank making try saving tackle, after try saving tackle. He always had a little shy smile on his face and was the ultimate team player; regularly attending games on his crutches (after a typical heroic tackle at Ilkeston ended in a broken leg!) to support his teammates - come rain or shine.
He was all of this and much more.
He was a great friend, brother and much loved son to his two wonderful parents, Helena and Tony, who both also gave so much to the club - Helena as U16s team manager and Tony as our longstanding first aider.
Our thoughts go out to both of them, and his younger brother Elijah, at this truly terrible time.
We're asking all teams across our Casuals family to hold a minutes silence before games/training this weekend to take a moment to remember our amazing Isaac. Further information on funeral arrangements will be shared when appropriate.
Our Colts team are playing tonight at home, kick off 6pm, we know they'd appreciate any support we give them by coming down to support the lads and coaches tonight.
