Casuals lad raising funds for a cause important to our club

On Saturday 11th May, Matthew Turnough (Casuals U15 player) will be participating in the Keswick to Barrow Walk, a sponsored walking and running event in the Lake District. It’s a challenging 40 mile route which Matthew has completed 3 times, hoping to improve on his time as he has each year.

This year, Matthew will be fundraising for the Open Water Education Network (OWEN) water safety programme, set up in the memory of Owen Jenkins.

Owen was a 12 year old Casuals player who sadly lost his life while trying to rescue friends who got into difficulty by the weir in Beeston. In Owen's memory, the Open Water Education Network is a water safety education programme based in Nottinghamshire that aims to act as a resource for children, young people and adults by providing education and support while promoting water safety.

Owen loved our club and his family are still very much involved, awarding prizes to those in our youth section who demonstrate the core rugby values, just as Owen did.

If you would like to sponsor Matthew for the event, please visit his fundraising page.
