Today was a big day in the modern history of Nottingham Casuals RFC.
For the first time in over 23 years, we fielded a senior women’s team!
As part of Inner Warrior, the RFU programme that encourages women and girls to try contact and touch rugby, we have been steadily building our women’s team over the summer.
Today, our newly formed team played two matches at Derby RFC, and we’re delighted to announce that they drew their first game and won the second game convincingly - keeping a clean score sheet in both games! ?? A huge congratulations to the senior women’s team! ?
A big thank you to Mez Coney, Bryn Lewis, Andy Morrison and Lis Ringrose for all the work behind the scenes — recruiting, organising and coaching the team. ?
The club really appreciates the effort you have put in to relaunch our women’s side. We have a strong legacy in the women’s game — our 2002 side reached the national finals, which were televised live on Sky Sports!
If anyone fancies getting involved, or would like to come along to a session to give it a go or find out more, you’d be very welcome. Training takes place at 6.30pm on Thursdays at Canalside. For any enquiries, please contact Bryn Lewis directly.
Huge congratulations again to the women’s team — we are all very proud and can’t wait to watch the team develop over this season.
