Setting The Scene
The old home ground looked the same
As we walked from the car park
And there to meet us was Re-ex and James.
Across the pitch we looked and there ran Mikey
Hair of gold and looking ready
It will be good if Casuals played the Green Green Ball at Home
Yes, we’d all come to see them
Arms reaching for a stray pass
It was good to see them play the Green, Green Ball at Home.
Southwell, though, were still standing
Though the pitch was stodgy and damp
And was not as wide as they’re used to play on
Through the gap there ran our speedy Bradwell
Determined and staying upright
It was good to see them play the Green Green Ball at Home.
Then Casuals awake and look around them
At 12 Southwell players that surround them
And realise, yes, they were not dreaming
For there’s a Stan, and a Good old Spencer
On and on, they’ll play to the whistle
Again, they’ll play the Green Green Ball at Home
Yes, we all had come to see them
In the shade of the trees behind the goal-line
As Casuals play Southwell
With the Green Green Ball at Home
The Game
We saw the light as good ball retention ended with a try by Stan
We saw the Southwell players come back quickly on the wing
The ga-a-a-me was dead even
Then an excellent passing move, finished off by Felix out of his mind…
My My my Archie! (he tackled extremely well)
My My my Jackson! (cracking first game on his debut)
Southwell could see, the ruck was now harder to win
So they went for the wing and scored tries, 1, 2, and 3
At break of play, when Rex and James coached away, Southwell were waiting
With the score at 2-3 Bradwell broke away and that opened the door
Casuals stood there laughing
Then let in three tries and they laughed no more.
My, my. my Liam (he was man of the match)
My, my, my George (great fearless tackling throughout)
So, before the end of the game – 4 more tries came Casuals’ way
The game ended, but no-one could give any more
The game ended, but no-one could give any more!

Non-musical factual summary
Good game. Casuals really stepped up and the game could have gone either way. NINE tries scored! Casuals won the first quarter 2-1 (tries finished off by Stan and Felix), “lost” (if that is a thing) the second quarter 2-1 (try scored by Bradwell solo), “lost” the 3rd Quarter 2-3 when 2-0 up to three tries in quick succession (Casuals tries both finished off by Liam) and, not demoralised as they could easily have been, came out fighting in an epic final quarter that was 4-4 (Bradwell, Owen, Bradwell again and finally Felix provided the finishes). Scoring, for the record went like this: 1-0, 1-1, 2-1 / 2-2, 2-3, 3-3 / 4-3, 5-3, 5-4, 5-5, 5-6 / 6-6, 6-7, 7-7, 7-8, 7-9, 7-10, 8-10, 9-10 – thriller.
