VICE CAPTAINS MATCH REPORT BY JAMES SIMPSON

Today we travelled to Keyworth to play a physical game of rugby against a side with good
ball handling skills. The first half we restricted them to 2 tries by holding our ground with
good rucking and defensive play. Our attacking play needed to be a bit better to capitalise on
the opportunities we had.
At the start of the second half we didn’t move up as a line and let them through the gaps too
often. Our offensive play was also not up to standard as they pushed us back too much and
we let them control the half. Although they scored a few more tries, our tackling towards the
end improved with contributions from everybody but specifically Rob and Seb. Ed made his
return with a couple dominant tackles, highlighting his importance to the team. There were a
few knocks and I hope everyone who was injured is feeling a bit better.
In summary, it was a game of two halves but with lots of positives to take forward, but we
need to improve our back line, depth and support. Great game. Everyone played well and
see you all Thursday.
