Casuals Chesterfield match report

Casuals kicked off ready to defend although not expecting an impressive offload from Chesterfield into a hard run down the right side of the pitch resulting in an impressive first try of the match which set the tone and reflecting showed Chesterfield were ready for a match. Casuals chose to receive the ball and after an impressive catch at the center of the pitch from Owen followed by a series of passes resulting in Oscars first of two impressive tries tying up the scoreboard.

In the remainder of the first half casuals struggled but played hard constantly defending the ball this resulted in a series of tries from Chesterfields 3, 11 and 12. In contrast to an ok defense the attack was fairly poor Small mistakes resulting in turnovers and penalties. There were some good decisions from Liam for the ball to go to Fin on the blind side or a strong ball to go down the line but these inevitably failed in attacks as the team struggled to support the runner. Overall after a frustrating first half the team got some well needed advice to be ready and up as a team in defence.

Throughout the first half of the second half casuals initiated pushing up as a team in defence reasonably but struggled in that Chesterfield had fresh legs and Casuals had no subs and were exhausted. Highlighting some good, Fin (when he was up in defense) got about four turnovers which were as a result of laziness from myself and all the team were not carried out due to having no support. Not to say there was no good as usual Felix and Noah tackled hard and constantly for the team and Owen rallied us up(captaining well throughout the match) in the end and with his game experience and knowledge he helped the team to another two tries in the second half. Not to say Chesterfield did not get their fair share of tries in the second half with a respectable 3855 points.

Overall Casuals played hard in the first half in most defence plays. But tired and frustrated struggled to perform in the next, although most of the play was bad especially with poor tackling, communication and a lack of effort. Casuals are improving slowly but surely and in future matches it is sure to only be up from here.
