Back to an U14's match, and at home, the team took their foot of the pedal a bit in the early stages - with both sides capitalising from their opponents' handling errors. It took 25 minutes for Casuals to score with PJ grounding, with Tom helping by driving him over the line. Ollie converted to make it 7-0.
The ref was sharp on infringements, with both sides benefitting from his guidance in their approach to play. Quick to take advantage, Ollie was able to run in a score from a penalty while Newark retreated 10m.
Late in the first half, with several missed tackles, Newark got over the line to pull back 5 then two further points with the conversion.
In the second half, play went both ways. The majority of possession was with Newark but it was Casuals who were able to take advantage of Newark's mistakes, with Lewis (S) successfully chasing a nifty kick from Chris off a ruck to score under the posts, converted by Ollie.
In the dying moments, while playing advantage from a Newark knock on, Ollie was able to run clear of the field for a second touch down, and he successfully converted from 2m from touch in a strong cross wind.
With support from Ben and Isaac (we wish them both speedy recoveries) and welcoming returning players Isa and Ishmael, the squad can focus on practice and skill building for the next few weekends.
