CAPTAINS MATCH REPORT BY ED THOMPSON

Today at Southwell we had our first game of the 2023 2024 season. As usual against them it was a close competitive game. We took a bit of time to get in to our stride,so they managed to run around us and score first. We bunched up at times again today, so they found ways around us. Something to work on and think about for our next game. We then managed to claw one back from some good passing out the line. Redd stepped up perfectly converted his first kick of the season! Well done! Theo ran in an amazing try from roughly half the pitch.Good job! Unfortunately it was hard angel to convert from. Maxwell had an excellent debut match for us stepping in as a hooker. Welcome to the team! Rob also got a good try that Red again skillfully converted. Some other worthy mentions for Ben for his swift reaction to their misplaced ball thinking they had a try. Well spotted! Joseph for his relentless pushing forward in every ruck tackle and scrum. But well done to each and everyone, we fought hard it just was not enough today. For next game week we need to work on our defence line, tackling and holding our scrum up to standard. Overall a good start to the season shame it was not a win. See you this week at training. Ed
