Casuals v Keyworth U14 – 12.11.2023
There was great respect shown before the match with both teams standing arm in arm in silence for
Remembrance Sunday.
We started really slowly and couldn’t find space to get our backs in the game. Keyworth started well
and put pressure on our line and defence. At times in the first half, we struggled to get in the game
and were slow to the break. Turnovers were high as we were slow to support players on the ground
and our play around the ruck needs more work. Keyworth took advantage of this and by half time
we were 3 tries down. Lucky for us their kicking game was not on form with all 3 conversions missed.
The 2 nd half started the same way as we could not find the form from the last few games. Keyworth
continued to drive forward but we managed to get a score on the board through a penalty try
although credit to Joseph for his quick reactions. Despite this we ran out second best with a score of
7-30.
Lots to work on in training this week as we go back to the drawing board with a big focus on mauls,
rucks and the break down. Big games coming up and a busy diary in November and December and I
know we can make big improvements on today’s performance. Special thank you to those who
helped out Keyworth who were short of numbers.
