MATCH REPORT BY GOYA

Following last week’s win against Paviors it was key that the team took the confidence and
performance into an important cup match against Moderns. In the first half with the wind
against us we started solidly, but we couldn’t create an opportunity due to last ditch tackling
from Moderns and some stray passes by us. Moderns took the lead with a converted try, but
George pulled us level when he dived over the line to score a try. Freddie,into the wind then
slotted the ball through the posts making it 7-7 at the end of the first half.
In the second half we conceded two unlucky tries due to missed tackles and losing the ball at key
moments. We then started to work better at using all members of the team and started to put
pressure on Moderns,. For the last ten minutes we played great rugby with clean tackles and
slick passing to make it 12-19,, with Ben scoring a great try that might not have been given on
another day due to the ball possibly being held up.
With only five minutes left Ben scored another fantastic try under the posts which left Freddy to
convert the try brilliantly,slotting the ball right through the middle of the posts making the final
score 19-19.
