Matches between Causals under 11s and Melbourne have historically been close fought affairs and the team were looking forward to testing themselves against the quality players of Melbourne again this season. In a really good measure of the progress the team has made this season the Casuals team were able to dominate the game from the offset with some outstanding individual performances of course but also a great team effort with excellent flowing Rugby and stern defence. Our ball retention was tremendous with excellent rucking and off loading to keep the ball alive and drive the opponents backward. The introduction of kicking from hand this year has given us something new to think about but we are adapting with players covering deep to ensure we are not caught out and some excellent catching and kick returns that made the tactic of kicking to the Under 11s extremely unproductive. Whilst Melbourne played well at times we really controlled the game well and when we needed to step on the gas, take control and extend the lead we had the players and skills to do that. A commading performance and scoreline to match, probably our best all round performance of the season so far. Well done to the entire squad, great effort, attitude and commitment.
