Midlands 2 East North
Casuals 10 Market Bosworth 14
Simple question, how did Casuals lose this one?
Given the amount of possession, they should have won by a street.
Unfortunately too much ball was lost. Simple options were spurned, and Market Bosworth were able to tackle the lone ball carriers and regain possession, as the support simply was not there.
Missed kicks at goal didn’t help either.
2 conversions would have drawn the game, 2 penalties would have won the game.
A try to Casuals after only 7 minutes from Rhys Allin, put away by quick thinking Josh Newton, taking a slick tap penalty on half way, he gave a pass to put the winger away, with a relatively clear run.
This simple formula of passing the ball could have been the solution, with some fairly ponderous opposition, Casuals should have run them ragged.
After that Bosworth accumulated firstly a penalty on 24 minutes then a try just before ½ time.
Another penalty shortly after the break, another after about 20 minutes, and it looked as if Bosworth would deny Casuals the losing bonus point.
Ben Hallam showed what could be achieved, after yet another mazy run, he was forced into touch a whisker away from the try line.
But Casuals at last managed to turn their possession into points when they drove a maul over from a lineout.
However, no matter how you dress this up, Casuals should have won, and the road to survival in this league is getting tougher.
Veteran full back, Hallam, was voted RJH Conversions, man of the match for the second game running.
