Another great win

Midlands 3 East North
Southwell nil Nott’m Casuals 40

Casuals maintained their record against their Nottinghamshire rivals Southwell with another emphatic win. It looked at first that the weather was going to play a major role in the quality of the game, and at first the slippery surface would hamper running.
Also late withdrawals meant Casuals had to change their line up somewhat. In the end it didn't matter a bit.
Southwell started brightly, and it was 20 minutes before Casuals could score, coming with a penalty by Mark Higgins.
Once Casuals decided to let the ball do the work, and pass to each other, they started to look like a team.
A lineout left side, and following some nicely timed offloads down the backs, Gareth Austin shimmied through on the right wing, to touch down in the corner.
Then Andy Gill got the first of his 2 tries either side of half time. The backs again moved the ball and and little Gilly supporting wide out, managed to dive over in the corner. Higgins put over a superb touchline conversion, and he followed up with his second penalty 10 minutes into the second half.
Southwell then didn’t help their cause by having a 2nd player sin binned for a somewhat daft offence, a blatant late challenge.
Daz Jones´quick thinking led to the next score, when he took a quick penalty, taking the ball into Southwell’s 22, and the quickly recycled ball gave Andy Gill his second try, as he charged through the last tacklers.
Joe Barton was next to touch down to finish off some good work by the forwards.
Josh Tilford set the move in motion, again Casuals swiftly transferred the ball, and Barton was unstoppable as he went in at the corner.
Higgins further increased Casual’s lead with a converted try. Casuals moving the ball rather than trying fancy moves, and Higgins was on hand to cross the line.
John Ackroyd then capped an outstanding personal performance with the final try.
Casuals took the lineout ball, set up a drive and Ackers was on hand to run in.
(Try scoring nearer the posts, and help the Doc with his kicking)
The win keeps Casuals in joint second.
Next week Casuals cross the Trent to take on Moderns in the cup.
