Midlands 2 East North
22nd November 2014
Stamford 24 Nottingham Casuals 6
Bottom of the table Stamford scored 4 tries earning them a bonus point, and leaving Casuals empty handed.
Not a true reflection of the efforts of the majority of the players.
After a 5 try bonus point win in beating West Bridgford, the previous week, Casuals came down to earth with a nasty bump.
Casuals had lots opportunities, especially at the start of the game to post some scores, but their inability to cross the line came down to poor game management and some horrible tactical play.
Stamford played a simple straightforward game plan, and aided by Casuals poor defending, they scored 2 tries in either half, whilst Casuals could only manage 2 penalties from Mark Higgins
Casuals forwards once again provided a solid platform, and consistently forged their way upfield, and even with numerous penalties against Stamford, they failed to take advantage of their field position. Why, well I'm sure the players know the answer to that
The anger of some of the players was discernible during the game as hard fought possession was wasted time and again, and the 70 metre chase back from a good attacking position , to defend on their own 5 metre line, after a daft kick, about summed it up.
And as for the shouting at other players, it does nothing for team harmony. More that one person guilty of that.
How to stop it, I'm sure the players know the answer to that one as well, but don't leave any visible bruises.
