4. Parents


Nottingham Casuals, coaches, administrators and volunteers fully acknowledge that parents are an integral part of the partnership, which ensures that young people enjoy their involvement in the sport and experience an environment in which they can flourish.

  • Encourage your child to play for fun and promote ‘fair play’ at all times.
  • Encourage your child to attend regular training sessions and to learn the skills of the game.
  • Focus on your child’s efforts rather than on winning or losing.
  • Do not expect too much from your child.
  • Provide positive verbal feedback both in training and during the game.
  • Always support the club in their efforts to eradicate loud, course and abusive behaviour from the game.
  • Remember that children learn by example.
  • Always show appreciation of good play by ALL young players both from your own club and the opposition
  • Respect decisions made by the match officials and encourage the young players to do likewise.
  • Ensure that your child has the relevant kit, boots with the correct studs for each session and gum shield if applicable for that age group and to provide a bottle of water/squash.
  • To be responsible for your child at all times through the training session and or game. There will be an expectation that a parent or designated adult remains throughout the session. This responsibility can be delegated but the club must be aware.
  • Be involved in the club as much as possible. This provides your son/daughter with the support to enjoy their rugby. Clubs are dependant on volunteers.
  • Learn the laws of the game.
  • Ensure you have filled in a club registration form for your child and have read the code of conduct.
  • ll smoking is to be behind the clubhouse and away from the field of play.
